Garden predator...

No wonder I'm not getting many birds at me feeder! Actually, this fine immature Cooper's Hawk was only present for a while. I noticed it flash past my window whilst I was working/daydreaming upstairs. It landed in a large Maple about 50 metres away so I bounded dowstairs scope, tripod and coolpix in hand and dashed out into the back yard in the hope of a spot of digiscoping. As luck would have it the bird stuck around for about 20 minutes allowing me to obtain a few usable images.

What a great bird! Oh, yes, and happy new year to you all...

  4. Hi Skipper. As you will no doubt find out, the dark side is by far the best side...

  5. Oh Moth Man,
Can you show us a "Clothes moth" that eats woollen sweaters? My friend got out her guide book to check if the dead moth in her wool stash was the wool-eating kind or another kind. I thought all moths ate wool...

Requests, this is something big, Dave!

  6. Hey there skipper. Actually I have seen a moth this year! it was a micro fluttering around my porch light. I rushed in to get a jar but it was gone when I returned. So, it's skipper 1, Dave Beadle 1.

Mary Deb - I don't have any pix of wool-eating micros. Sorry. And no, very few moths eat wool! Only some alien micros that shouldn't be here anyway...

Sorry I've not posted anything of late, have hit one of those "busy" periods prior to going away.
